Throughout the book we provide short video clips of some of the SPSS procedures described in each chapter. After introducing a procedure and showing still images, we present a video that shows this procedure actually being performed in SPSS.

Below is the first of these videos, which shows the steps we just described above for running the SPSS tutorial. Please note the following about videos.

Instructions for Viewing Videos

• These videos display in Macromedia Flash Player, a browser plugin for viewing video.
• You may be prompted to install the Flash Payer Plugin before the video will display.
• This plugin is perfectly safe; Macromedia is a trusted source; installation poses no risk.

The videos are initially paused when you first load the page, so they look very similar to the still images we present. To help you distinguish a video from other still images, we have placed the following icon at the top of the Flash Player containing any video:

When you see this button at the top of a Flash Player, to view the video:

• Click the Play button on the red Control Bar at the bottom of the Flash Player.
• Use the controls (play, pause, adv/rew) as you would on a DVD player.
