Page 9 of 14 Pagina 9 van 14 Wheezes: Wheezes: Wheezes are continuous, high pitched, musical sounds heard usually on expiration. Wheezes zijn continue, hoge toon, muzikale geluiden gehoord over het algemeen verlopen.
They are produced when air flows through airways narrowed by secretions, foreign bodies, or obstructive lesions. Zij worden opgesteld wanneer de lucht stroomt door de luchtwegen vernauwd door secreties, vreemde lichamen, of obstructieve laesies. The proportion of the respiratory cycle occupied by the wheeze roughly corresponds to the degree of airway obstruction. Het aandeel van de respiratoire cyclus bezet door de mop komt grosso modo overeen met de mate van obstructie.
There are two types of wheezes: Er zijn twee soorten wheezes: - monophonic (suggesting obstruction of one airway) or mono (suggereert een obstructie van de luchtwegen zijn) of

The presence of expiratory wheezing signifies that the patient's peak expiratory flow rate is less than 50% of normal, and due to a dynamic bronchoconstriction as in bronchial asthma. De aanwezigheid van expiratoire piepende betekent dat de patiënt piek expiratoire debiet van minder dan 50% van de normale, en als gevolg van een dynamisch bronchoconstriction als in bronchiale astma. Wheezing heard during inspiration most often signifies a more static bronchoconstriction usually caused by tumors, foreign bodies or firosis.
