Case Discussions / Cardiorespiratory Case Discussions / emphysema and anaesthetics

Hi
I was aksed to discuss the clinical consequences of emphysema for a patient needing treatment for osteoarthritis. The only problem I can really envisage is the potential for anaesthetic complications if they undergo a surgical treatment. I have read that smoking increases the anaesthtic risks, but I'm not sure what risks this was talking about.
Any help would be of great use.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone would be able to give me a good explanation on how photophobia occurs. Particularly in meningitis or migraines. Thanks

CLINICAL SUBJECTS / Neurological diseases / anatomy - somatic motor and sensory fibres & sympathetic motor fibres

Hi, I was asked to fill out a table in anatomy, but I’m having trouble finding any information. Was wondering if anyone would be able to help with the answers or perhaps point to a good neuroanatomy source for information (I’ve already tried Snell’s)?
For each of somatic motor fibres, somatic sensory fibres and sympathetic motor fibres I was asked to fill in: - Are the fibres myelinated? - Where is the cell body of the neurone located? - What is the shape of the nerve cell (e.g. bipolar, multipolar, etc)? - Where are the nerve impulses initiated that travel in these fibres? (e.g. nerve ending, cell body – give location) - What is the neurotransmitter substance released from the nerve fibre ending?
So far all I’ve really worked out is that they are all myelinated and both somatic motor and sympathetic motor fibres release acetylcholine. Any help would be fantastic.
