Human to human transmission was not very well documented for Bird flu. Now a large family cluster in Indonesia has been identified to have had human-human transmission with 7 deaths. Another independent cluster involving death of two siblings has also been reported today.
This also brings the total number of human deaths due to bird flu to 33 in Indonesia.
However, WHO has clarified that there has been no documented mutation. So far there's no evidence of "efficient human-to-human transmission" and no sign that the outbreak is spreading into the local community.
The H5N1 strain of avian flu is highly dangerous when it infects humans. As of today, 218 people have been infected and 124 have died Worldwide.
